Overview
Get connected to TAMU_WIFI by installing a security certificate on your personal device. You'll need to install a WiFi certificate on each device you want to use on campus. Set up your phone, laptop, and tablet now for automatic, secure access to TAMU_WIFI as soon as you arrive.
Please Note:
- Android interfaces vary by manufacturer and version. Menu layouts and settings may look different from the screenshots in this guide, but core functionality remains the same.\
- This process includes downloading a profile on your personal device. This profile adds a secure WiFi certificate to your device. That certificate allows your device to connect to TAMU_WiFi automatically without requiring you to log in repeatedly. For more information, please see the FAQ: Security and Privacy section
Tip: If you can't find a specific setting, use the search function in your Settings app.

Instructions
NOTE: If you are currently connected to TAMU_WiFi, you must first forget the network, or you will receive the error message "Your connection was interrupted" on Android.
- Open your web browser and navigate to https://cloud.securew2.com/public/05075/TAMU_WiFi/ or scan the QR code:

- Click Download to navigate to the Google Play Store and install the Secure W2 certificate installer, and tap Accept if prompted for app permissions.

- The SecureW2 application will launch, and the configuration will be downloaded. When prompted, enter your NetID and NetID password. Then click Continue.
- Install profiles.
Please Note:
● Due to a limitation with Google, the Join Now app must remain installed on the phone. If it's removed, the configuration profile will be purged by the operating system.
● Location Permission - Due to permission changes enforced by Google in Android 10, the Join Now app will prompt for Location Permission for strictly configuration reasons. This requirement is part of Android's security model, as scanning for Wi-Fi networks can be used to determine a device's physical location. Users must grant this permission to allow the SecureW2 JoinNow app to identify the TAMU_WiFi network and apply the necessary certificate settings. The location data is not tracked, and no personal information is shared.
- Click Continue to return to the application.
- Click on Save/Allow network.

- Device successfully configured

- Once the setup process is completed successfully, the TAMU_WIFInetwork will show as Connected.
