Apple Device Management - Using the Support Hub

Overview

The Apple Device Management @ Texas A&M Support Hub gives you access to information about your device and lets you submit a support ticket, chat with Help Desk Central or provide feedback.

Support Hub is found in the menu bar at the top of your computer screen and can be opened by clicking on the Gig ‘em icon.

Support Hub Details

Computer Name

- Displays your computer’s name (the same as its serial number). When you mouse over the button, you will see the computer model. Clicking the button opens the About page in System Preferences.

 

OS Name 
- Tells you what version of macOS your device is using. Clicking the button opens the Software Update page.

 

Last Reboot time
- Shows the last time your device closed and restarted.

 

Currently connected network and IP address
- Shows your network and current IP Address. Clicking the button opens your Network preferences.

 

Date and time of last computer health check.
- Shows the last time your device checked in with the Apple device management system. Clicking the button initiates a check-in for your device.

 

Request administrator privileges.
- Identifies if your account is set as an Administrative or Standard User. Clicking the button will change the account type. An administrative account will be demoted after 15 minutes.

 

Submit a support ticket
- Opens a webpage where you can report IT issues or problems to Help Desk Central.

 

Self-Service portal shortcut.
- Opens the Self-Service Hub where you can install managed software.

 

Open a chat session with Help Desk Central
- Opens a chat with Help Desk Central in Teams.

 

Shortcut to open a feedback form to provide feedback to the Apple Management Team
- Opens a form in a separate window for you to provide service feedback to the Apple Management Team.

 

Check your computer for any available updates
- Checks for updates for all managed applications on your device. We recommended you close all apps before clicking this button.
