Issue

Wishes to create a new email address for others to contact. 

Environment

 • Affiliation with Texas A&M: users with an @tamu.edu email address 

Resolution

A NetID alias is a NetID nickname for your account. Any emails sent to your Alias, will follow the same forwarding settings as your NetID email. 

To create a new email alias for others to send to:
1. Go to gateway.tamu.edu and log in using NetID and password
2. Click "EMAIL SETTINGS"
3. Under "Published Email Address", click "Change or Add Email"
4. Under "Additional Email Addresses", click "Add a New Email Address" and enter the desired address
5. Choose the new email address from the "Select published email" drop-down menu and click "Change published email"

To change the email address that appears to recipients:
1. Access your email account through Gmail
2. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner and click Settings
3. Under the "Accounts and import" tab, find the section labeled "Send mail as:" and click "Add another email address"
4. Enter the new address and click "Next Step"
5. Click "make default" to the right of the new alias
