 Overview

Texas A&M University students, including undergraduate and graduate students and those enrolled at TAMU Health, TAMU School of Law, and TAMU Galveston, are eligible to receive a free four-year 1Password Families account for personal use. These accounts are made available to students by 1Password as an added feature of TAMU's business license with 1Password. The accounts are offered through 1Password and not through TAMU itself. As a result, TAMU does not provide support for these accounts.

 Support Information

  • These 1Password Families accounts for students ARE NOT supported by Texas A&M. Any issues with these accounts must be reported to 1Password's support team.
  • DO NOT use your tamu.edu email address when signing up for your free 1Password Families account. Use a personal, non-TAMU email address to claim this account. If you lose access to your TAMU email address due to graduation or otherwise leaving the university, you will no longer be able to use that 1Password account.
  • The account is provided at no charge for four years starting from the day the account is claimed and has no correlation to your student status. After the initial four year period is over, the account will become read-only until a form of payment is provided. The account and its contents will not be deleted.

How to Redeem My Free 1Password Families Account

  1. Go to https://1password.com/promo/.
  2. Enter the code you received in an email from Technology Services (this code was sent to your Texas A&M email address) and your Texas A&M student email address.
  3. Click the Redeem 1Password Account button.
  4. Check your Texas A&M email (including spam) for an email from 1Password.
  5. Click the Get Started button in the email and sign up using your personal email address — this ensures you will retain access to your account when you are no longer a student.
  6. As the creator of a Families account, you are a family organizer. This allows you to manage the additional family members or friends you add to your account.
  7. We highly recommend you set up your 1Password Emergency Kit as soon as you complete the sign-up process. Your Emergency Kit contains all of your account details and allows you to access your 1Password account if you cannot sign in.

 Emergency Kit

The 1Password Emergency Kit is a PDF document with your account details. If you fill out your Emergency Kit and store it safely, it will allow you to access your 1Password account if you can’t sign in.

How to Change My Email Address

Information on changing your email address, adding, and removing family members to your 1Password Families account is available on 1Password's support site.
