Step 1: Find out your office computer name
First, you will need to know the TAMUQ computer name that is assigned to your Office Desktop.
a. Click on the Windows Start icon at the bottom left corner of your desktop screen.
b. Inside the search, type in Computer Name.
c. Click View your PC name.
d. The computer name will be shown under Device Specifications.
Step 2: Connect to TAMUQ VPN
If you are outside the TAMUQ network, you will need to connect to TAMUQ VPN to access Remote Desktop Service.
Follow the instructions on 'Installing and Connecting to TAMUQ VPN' to connect to VPN.
Step 3: Install & setup Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac
a. On your Mac, go to App Store and search for Microsoft Remote Desktop.
b. Click the Get button to download the app.
c. Once done, launch the app and click the ‘+’ button at the top of the Microsoft Remote Desktop window.
d. Select Desktop from the drop-down menu and enter the PC name which you had noted earlier.

e. From the user account drop-down list, select “Add user account” Enter Qatar\Tamuq username and password for your PC to set remote connection. These fields are mandatory as you will need them to log in to the PC through the remote connection.

f. Once done, click Add button.
g. You can also customize how you want the remote desktop to display your machine by making changes to personal preferences in Settings like colors, screen modes, and resolution.
h. To initiate the connection, double click on your PC Name tile.
i. Click Show Certificate, select “Always Trust” from the “when using this certificate” drop-down list to prevent seeing this warning again for the PC specified.
j. Click Continue, enter your mac password to complete the authentication.
k. Once done, your Windows PC will be displayed in full screen on your MacBook or MacOS.
