Texas A&M University at Qatar Technology Services is implementing Multi-factor authentication for our campus VPN service in response to recent A&M System policy changes.
You will be required to enroll your smartphone in the Texas A&M at Qatar Duo system before you use TAMUQ VPN (Here are the detailed steps). The enrollment process is the same process as the one for the main campus Duo implementation. There is no need to install the Duo app again on your smart devices; the same Duo apps will work for both campuses. Due to software limitations, the Duo keychain tokens are not compatible across campuses. As such, Texas A&M at Qatar Technology Services will offer free Duo tokens for campus employees upon request.
The Texas A&M System Cybersecurity Committee recently recommended changes to the Duo two-factor authentication system in order to combat a significant increase in "push-bombing" attacks that have been detected targeting system members. Starting next Sunday, 7 July, enhanced "Verified Duo Push" prompts will be used for most authentications that involve TAMUQ's Microsoft365 and Citrix logons.
The "Verified Duo Push" is similar to the normal prompt, but it will have a three-digit number that you will enter into the Duo mobile app to authenticate.
