Connecting to FollowMe Network Printers

1. Go to https://webprint.qatar.tamu.edu

2. Login using your TAMUQ username (firstname.lastname) and password as login details.

3. Click on Web Print

4. To upload a document, select Submit a Job.

5. Select the appropriate printer from the list to send your document. You can use Quick Find to search for printers by room location.

For Staff: tamuq-print\FollowMe-Staff (virtual) For Student: tamuq-print\FollowMe-student (virtual)

​6. Scroll down to the bottom-right of the page and click on 2. Print Options and Account Selection

7. Enter the numbers of copies and click on 3. Upload Documents

8. You are now ready to upload your files and send them to any FollowMe printer. Depending on your browser, you can use Drag files here or Upload from Computer option. 

9. Click on Upload & Complete to send your document to the printer queue. Make a note of file extensions the software will allow you to upload for printing.

10. Your job is now Held in Queue and can be picked up from a FollowMe printer by swiping your TAMUQ ID to release the job.

Note: To cancel a print job, go to Jobs Pending Release and click cancel in front of the job you want to cancel.

 

This article explains how you can connect and print from your Macbook or iMac through the TAMUQ FollowMe network printers with stapling option enabled. TAMUQ Technology Services uses the FollowMe print solution to manage print services.  

Note: The following instructions apply to Mac OS X v10.5 or later.  

1. Printer driver download and install

• For HP M880 & M750 Visit http://support.apple.com/downloads/#hp to search and download the latest HP Print Drivers for OS X and install it.
• For HP MFP E87650 Please right click on the hyperlink and select “Open Hyperlink” to download and install the driver: P:\Technology Services\Mac Print Driver

2. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.

3. Choose Printers & Scanners from the View menu.

4. Click the "+" button to add a printer.

5. Press the Control key while clicking the Default icon (or any other icon on the toolbar), then choose Customize Toolbar from the contextual menu that appears.

6. Drag the Advanced (gear) icon to the toolbar then click Done

7. Click the Advanced icon that was added to the toolbar.

8. Choose Windows printer via spoolss from the "Type:" pop-up menu.

9. In the URL field, type the printer's address in the format shown below:

• For Staff: smb://tamuq-print1.qatar.tamu.edu/Followme-Staff

• For Student: smb://tamuq-print1.qatar.tamu.edu/Followme-Student

10. In the Name field, type the name you would like to use for this printer in Mac OS X. (Example: FollowMe-Staff .)

11. Select the appropriate printer driver from the Use pop-up menu by first selecting Select Software...

12. From the Printer Software window, find the driver for the printer you wish to map and click OK.  (Example: HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M750 or MFP E87650)

13. Click Add.

14. When you print a job, you will be asked to authenticate your name and password. Use the following information:

• Connect as: Registered User
• Name: TAMUQ ID (fistname.lastname)
• Password: TAMUQ ID password 

Click OK. Your print job should then be sent to the printer. 

15. To Enable Staple Option:

For HP MFP E87650
Go to Printers & Scanners and select follow-me staff/student and click on "Options & Supplies"

16. Click on Options and do the following changes.

17. Go to the file you need to print. Example: Word file, Select File, Print and do the following changes.

1. Question: How long does the queue hold the print job? Answer: The print job remains in the queue for 720 minutes (12 hours).

2. Question: How many jobs can be sent by one person? Answer: No limits.

3. Question: Are there any limits to the number of pages for printing a single job? Answer: No limits.

4. Question: What type of documents can be printed? Are there any restrictions? Answer: No restrictions. Files such as PDF, DOC, PPT etc. can be printed.

5. Question: Can scans be done to the external email address? Answer: No, but the user can forward scanned jobs from internal email to outside.

6. Question: What is the maximum upload size of the document or file in printing with WebPrint? Answer: Files can be uploaded up to 450MB

Part 1: Download and Launch the Installer

1. Go to the Setup Page: Open your web browser and navigate to the following address: http://tamuq-print1:9163/client-setup/known-host/macos.html
2. Download the File: Click the "Download" button on the webpage.
3. Launch the Installer: Locate the downloaded file (which opens a folder containing the application) and double-click the "PaperCut Mobility Print Client.pkg" file to start the installation.

Part 2: Install the Client Software

1. Introduction: The "Welcome to the Installer" screen appears. Click Continue. 
2. License Agreement: The "Software License Agreement" is displayed. Click Continue, then click Agree to accept the terms. 

1. Installation Type: The "Standard Install" screen will show the disk location and space required. Click Install. 

2.  License Agreement: The "Software License Agreement" is displayed. Click Continue, then click Agree to accept the terms. 

 

Part 3: Select and Install Printers

1. Select Printers: After the main software installs, the "Mobility Print Setup" window appears, showing a list of printers. Check the box next to each printer you wish to install (e.g., FollowMe-Staff, FollowMe-Student).

1. Confirm Installation: A "Success!" dialog will pop up, confirming that the printers have been successfully installed (e.g., "8 printers successfully installed"). Click OK. 

1. Final Summary: The installation window will finalize on the "Summary" screen with the message: "The installation was successful." Click Close to exit the installer. 

Part 4: Printing and Authentication

Once the client is installed, follow these steps to send your first print job and authenticate with the system:

1. Open Your Document: Open the document you wish to print (e.g., in Preview, Word, or any application).

1. Open the Print Dialog: Go to the File menu and select Print... (or press the keyboard shortcut Command + P. 
2. Select the Printer: In the Print dialog box, ensure the Printer field is set to the correct FollowMe queue (e.g., FollowMe-Student). 

1. Send the Job: Adjust any print settings (pages, copies, etc.) and click Print.
2. Authenticate: A pop-up window will appear, asking you to enter credentials for the printer.
   • Name: Enter your NetID (e.g., firstname.lastname).
   • Password: Enter your NetID password.
   • Tip: You may check "Remember this password in my keychain" for future use. 

1. Complete Printing: Click OK. Your print job is now securely held in the FollowMe queue.
2. Release the Job: To complete the printing process successfully, go to any nearby PaperCut-enabled printer and:
   • Scan your student ID card to log in to the printer.

    ◦    Select your pending print job from the screen to release and print it.uthenticate: A lock icon will appear, prompting you for permission to install new software. Enter your Mac's administrator Username and Password for your OWN device, and click Install Software.
