Echo360: Decommissioned by 01-Sept-2025

Summary

Decommissioning of Echo360 by 01-Sep-2025

Body

Echo360 is a lecture capture and video streaming platform that allows automated recording of classes and publishing through Canvas and other links. It will be replaced by Texas A&M Mediasite and Texas A&M Zoom services. This is part of the Technology Services transition plan to leverage TAMU service offerings while maintaining existing functionality for learning and teaching at TAMUQ. Technology Services will also be transitioning teaching spaces in the coming semesters to HBKU requiring TAMUQ Echo360 equipment to be removed. Mediasite and Zoom recordings are already integrated with courses in Canvas for student use and accessibility.

All videos on Echo360 will be deleted and owners of videos need to identify those they would like to keep and prepare to download or migrate them to Mediasite.

Expected time line for this change:

2025 SPRING

  1. Echo360 videos should be identified by those who have used the system and start downloading or migrating as required.

  2. Final semester of automated in-room recording functionality.

2025 SUMMER

  1. Video owners finish the downloading or migrating of videos they continue to need.

  2. Only Mediasite and Zoom recordings will be available in Canvas.

  3. All Echo360 appliances removed from teaching spaces during semester. Mediasite software in some rooms and Zoom recording functionality as replacement.

2025 Fall (September 1)

  1. All Echo360 access will be removed and videos deleted.
