New employees have 31 days from their hire date to enroll in benefits in Workday, with three coverage start date options. Employees may choose coverage beginning on their hire date, within seven days, or on the first of the following month, but employer contributions (SGIP) do not begin until the first of the month after 60 days of employment. If employees miss the early enrollment windows, their coverage will default to the SGIP eligibility date.
