Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

Overview

The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) is a federal law that establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, record-keeping, and child labor standards for workers in the private sector and government entities. At Texas A&M University, FLSA compliance ensures that non-exempt employees are entitled to a minimum wage of $7.25 per hour and overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.

Eligibility

The Fair Labor Standards Act applies to all full-time and part-time workers at Texas A&M University. Non-exempt employees are entitled to overtime pay for hours worked over 40 in a workweek, while exempt employees are salaried and not eligible for overtime.
