Other Paid Leave

Overview

Eligible Texas A&M, Texas A&M Galveston, Texas A&M Health (HSC) employees may utilize various types of other paid leave.  Some leave types require additional approvals in order to be granted.

Use this service request to ask questions about:

  • Emergency Leave:
    • Other Circumstances:  Allows eligible employees to take paid leave for severe personal crises or catastrophic situations not covered by existing rules.
    • Death of Family Member:  Leave available for death of immediate family (employee's spouse, or the employee's or spouse's child, stepchild, parent, stepparent, brother, stepbrother, sister, stepsister, grandparent, step grandparent, great grandparent, step great grandparent, grandchild, step grandchild, great grandchild or step great grandchild.)  *Note that aunts, uncles, and cousins are not covered under this policy.
  • Educational Release Time Program:  Time off for employees to attend educational programs.
  • Wellness Release Time:  Time off for participating in wellness activities.
  • Jury Duty, Serving as a Witness, and Responding to a Subpoena:  Paid leave for fulfilling civic duties.
  • Other Paid Leaves (Volunteer Firefighters/EMS, Organ/Bone Marrow/Blood Donors, Voting Leave, Court Appointed Special Advocates):  Include time off for volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel, organ, bone marrow, and blood donors, voting, and serving as court-appointed special advocates.

Leave eligibility and approval will vary depending on leave type, employee type, and/or the employee’s circumstances/needs.
