Overview
As part of Texas A&M University’s onboarding and compliance process, prospective employees are required to complete a background check.
Texas A&M partners with First Advantage (formerly Sterling) to conduct these screenings for new hires, volunteers, and current employees as needed.
Steps
- Watch for emails from @fadv.co, @fadv.com, or @sterlingcheck.com. These are legitimate communications from First Advantage. Adjust your email filters to ensure delivery.
- Complete the electronic disclosure and authorization form.
- Review your rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including privacy and security information.
- Prepare the following information to avoid delays:
- Personal details (for example: full legal name, Social Security number)
- Address history for the past 7 years
- Submit all required information within 7 business days.
- Note: Delays in completing this process may result in a postponed start date.
