Change the Title of a Vacant Position

Overview
As positions become vacant, it might be necessary to change the title of the position in order to fill the position at a different title or level. When changing the title of a vacant position, this could be to a higher, lower, or lateral title. In this case, the position is not filled by an incumbent and the title will be reclassified.

Eligibility and approval for changing the title of a vacant position will depend on the specific circumstances and type of position. Managers must work with their designated HR professional to obtain all necessary approvals. The HR professional will assist in determining the appropriate job title and ensure all required documentation is complete. All changes must be approved through the appropriate administrative channels before being entered into Workday.
