Leave Without Pay

Overview
A Leave of Absence Without Pay (LOA) allows Texas A&M University employees to take unpaid leave for various reasons, including illness, injury, or other personal circumstances. Employees must exhaust all accumulated paid vacation and compensatory time before being granted unpaid leave, except for disciplinary suspensions, active military duty, and leave covered by workers’ compensation benefits.

Approval Guidelines:  An employee may go on Leave of Absence for illness, injury, or for other reasons with appropriate approval.

Employees must use all paid leave before requesting unpaid leave, except in specific cases like military duty or workers’ compensation.
