Code Maroon Computer Alerts Installation - Windows

Overview

These instructions will guide you through the process of installing the Code Maroon Alerts for Windows.

Before you begin, follow our instructions to download the correct version of the Computer Alerts.
   

Instructions

 

  1. Right-click the Desktop Notifier zip file you downloaded previously [fig. 01]. The file will be named DesktopNotifier_Windows_CS or DesktopNotifier_Windows_Law. Choose Extract All to extract the files.

  1. In the folder created after extracting the files, right-click the file named DesktopNotifierInstall_Windows_CS (or _Law) and choose Run as Administrator.
     
  2. If you get a warning saying "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software," click on Run to begin the installation process [fig. 02].

  1. Verify that the correct campus is displayed and click install [fig. 03].

  1. After installation is complete, click OK [fig. 04].

  2. You must restart your computer before you can receive alerts [fig. 05].
     
    1. Click YES to restart immediately.
    2. Click NO if you want to manually restart your computer later.

  1. When the Desktop Notifier is installed and monitoring properly, a purple globe icon will be displayed in the hidden icons menu on your desktop. Alerts will only be received if your computer is connected to the Texas A&M Network [fig. 06].
