Ensuring Qualtrics Survey Closes once Response Gathering is Complete

When setting up your survey, there are options that can be implemented to ensure your survey will not remain active. Before you submit your survey to your population, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the Options icon in the left-hand menu.

  2. Select Responses from the Options menu.

  3. Look for the following:
    1. Automatic survey closure – enable this to ‘collect incomplete survey responses and close survey access after any applicable survey expiry dates. This will ensure that no additional responses are submitted once you are done with your survey period. This can help maintain the integrity of your data.
    2. Survey availability – in order to maintain the integrity of your data, and to close surveys in a timely manner, it is recommended that ‘Set specific start and expiration date’ is selected. Notice the default timeframe and if that does not fit within your window, click Edit survey availability to select new start and expiration dates.
    3. Expired survey message – Default is selected; however, Custom can be selected thereby allowing you to set a special message to any user who accesses the survey after the expiration date.
