Internet of Things - Finding MAC Address of Common Devices

Overview

The TAMU_IOT wireless network is intended to allow the use of devices on the Texas A&M wireless network which are unable to connect to WPA2 Enterprise wireless connections. This includes devices such as gaming consoles, media streaming devices, and ebook readers. You can have a maximum of three such devices registered with and connected to the TAMU_IOT wireless network at a time. In order to register a device for use on the TAMU_IOT wireless network, you will need to provide the device's media access controller (MAC) address. MAC addresses are unique to each network device and are formatted using the numbers 0-9 and letter A-F in a set of 6 pairs such as XX.XX.XX.XX.XX.XX or XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX.

Many devices will have the MAC address printed on a label on the back or bottom of the device, while others will require you to go into device's system interface to find it. The location of the MAC address varies from device to device, and it is best to check the documentation that came with your device or the device manufacturer's website for instructions on locating this information for your particular device. The instructions and devices included here represent a sample subset of such instructions and are not meant to be all-inclusive.
