1Password - Trusted Devices

Overview

Texas A&M 1Password accounts authenticate via Single Sign On using Microsoft Entra ID. Rather than using a traditional password and security key, TAMU 1Password accounts use "Trusted Devices."

Setting up a trusted device

The first device you use to log into your TAMU 1Password account will automatically become a trusted device. We highly recommend that the first device you log into is the 1Password mobile app or the 1Password desktop app. Due to the behavior of web browser cookies, using a web browser as your trusted device may cause problems if you ever need to clear cache and cookies.

After the first login, you can add trusted devices by attempting to log into 1Password on the new device. When you sign in, you will be prompted for a verification code. The verification code will automatically be generated by your existing trusted device(s).

Using a trusted device

  1. Open the 1Password desktop or mobile app or the 1Password webpage.
  2. Click Sign in with Microsoft.
  3. Click Continue on your trusted device to complete authentication.
