Configuring Your RokuTV for ResNet with an Ethernet Adapter

Overview

This document will provide instructions on how to connect your RokuTV that does not have an Ethernet Port to the on campus wired connection, ResNet. You will need an Ethernet to USB adapter that has a ASIX AX88772 chip set driver to complete this process. Try and get an ethernet adapter similar to this one that has the chipset listed.

Instructions

Note: The following does require an internet connection, if you are on campus, we suggest using a wireless hotspot on your phone (temporarily ONLY). Please turn the hotspot off as soon as this process is complete.

  1. Register the device at https://my.roku.com/link using a web browser and your Roku account
  2. Allow the device to update (you may have to manually do this through the settings) once connected to the temporary hotspot
    1. Once the updates are finished disable the hot spot
  3. Register this adapter to the Resnet network via a computer:
    1. Plug Ethernet cable to USB adapter into the computer
    2. Plug the Ethernet cable into Ethernet port on the wall and in the computer
    3. Disable/Turn off wireless on the computer and go to resnet.tamu.edu
    4. It should then be prompted to register the device
    5. See section below for instructions on retrieving mac address of the adapter if it is not automatically registered.
