This help document will walk through the basic steps for requesting services through the Secure Technologies for Aggie Researchers (STAR) Self-Service Portal.
The STAR Self-Service Portal is located at https://portal.star.tamu.edu.
Logging In, Dashboard & Widgets
Log in to the STAR Self-Service Portal at https://portal.star.tamu.edu.
After logging in, the dashboard will be displayed. Customize widget panels by clicking the gear icon at the top right.
Widget panels can be removed, moved to a different location, or hidden.
Click the TAMU logo to go back to the dashboard at any time.
Resources
Under the Resources tab, navigate to your S3 Buckets, EC2 Instances (Servers), and Sagemaker Notebooks.
For example, the S3 Buckets page lists all your available S3 Buckets.
Click the name of a S3 Bucket to view more detailed information in the file browser, in which you can:
- Download
- Delete
- Upload
- Search
- Rename
- Select multiple items
As another example, the Servers page lists all of your available EC2 Instances. Click the hostname to view additional information and options for interacting with your server.
Choose a specific server to view the following information:
- SSH or RDP access from a web browser
- Remotely run Bash or PowerShell on a server
- Power options
- IP address
- Hardware specifications
- Billing information
Catalog
Under the Catalog tab, select predefined "Blueprints" (i.e., templates) to order and deploy services.
Sagemaker & Jupyter Notebooks
After launching a Sagemaker instance from the Catalog, go to Resources > Sagemaker Notebooks.
To access the Sagemaker instance you launched, select the Sagemaker tab and click the Launch button.
This will launch a Jupyter notebook on your Sagemaker instance, which will provide access to AWS Machine Learning tools.
