Hardware Support Policy

Description

Technology Services supports equipment provided and stocked in the inventory. This equipment is subject to the Equipment Replacement Policy.

Full Support

  • Troubleshoot issues relating to hardware.
  • Repair in-house and/or send equipment to a remote or local vendor for specialized support.
  • Install and/or set up equipment, if necessary.

Limited Support

  • Troubleshoots hardware-related issues and advises the user on an option of repair.
  • Does not include extended repair, re-imaging, or OS diagnostics.
  • Does not include installation or setting up equipment.

Non-Standard Support

  • Support is available for hardware items, platforms, and applications not included in the standard offerings.
  • Terms of support are detailed in the Non-Standard Hardware Support Service that is worked out between the customer and the appropriate Technology Support - Qatar staff before purchase.

Other equipment

  • Equipment stocked by Technology Support - Qatar is provided for academic use in labs and classrooms, as required if approved by the academic department head.
  • Equipment stocked by Technology Support - Qatar can be obtained for departmental use by reallocating funds from a TAMUQ departmental or research account; Technology Support - Qatar provides full support for this equipment.

Any equipment not stocked by Technology Support - Qatar, can be purchased from an online or local vendor with funds from a TAMUQ departmental or research account. This equipment cannot be joined to our domain without the approval of Technology Support management. (This approval should be obtained before the purchase.) Technology Support provides limited support for this equipment. In some circumstances, more Technology Support support may be available through a customized Non-Standard Support Service Agreement. Purchased equipment stays with the department when an employee leaves TAMUQ and returns at the end of its useful service life. Technology Support then hands this equipment over to Qatar Foundation.
