The Reads & Counts Tutors program at Texas A&M University involves Aggies tutoring elementary students in reading and math, providing valuable work experience and financial aid through work-study. The Community Service Program

The Community Service Program, funded by Federal Work Study program, provides student employment opportunities at local non-profit agencies, government offices and area high schools.  Texas A&M University has partnered with a number of organizations whose services are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their needs. Reads & Counts Tutors Program
The Reads & Counts Tutors program at Texas A&M University at College Station is part of a long-standing commitment to community service, originating from the America Reads Challenge. Around 150 Aggies tutor elementary students in reading and math at 23 locations in Bryan and College Station. This program benefits both the students and the tutors, as over 95 percent of public elementary school students in the area could work with a tutor. Tutors gain valuable work experience, leadership opportunities, and financial aid through work-study. 

A Reads & Counts tutor is dedicated to making a lifelong impact by mentoring and serving others while also experiencing personal and professional growth. The program seeks self-motivated, dependable individuals passionate about working with children from kindergarten to sixth grade. Experience with children is preferred, and all majors are encouraged to apply. Paid training is required.
