External Employment

Overview
This regulation governs all external employment of employees of The Texas A&M University System other than faculty.
Use this service request to ask questions about:
  • External Employment:  Understand the policies and procedures for engaging in external employment while employed by Texas A&M.
  • Huron:  Huron should be the first method to reporting External Employment.  However, everybody is not loaded into the system.  If the Huron link doesn't work, the employee should submit the External Application Form.
Eligibility
All employees are eligible for external employment at Texas A&M University, provided they obtain prior approval, avoid conflicts of interest, and ensure it does not interfere with their primary job responsibilities.

  • 31.05.02 - External Employment:  Outlines regulations on external employment and guidelines on obtaining approval for external work, ensuring no conflicts of interest, and the use of university resources for such employment.
  • Dual Employment:  Dual Employment is used when an employee takes on additional work within a state agency like Texas A&M, TDCJ, TEES. External Employment is when an employee takes on additional work outside of a state agency.
  • External Employment Application & Approval Form:  Used by employees to request permission for external employment ensuring their work does not conflict with their university duties and policies.
