Benefit Impacts from Change in Hours Worked or Percent Effort

Overview
Employees who move from part-time to full-time or vice versa may experience a change to their benefits. Those working 50-74% effort are considered part-time for benefit purposes and receive half of the full time employer contribution toward their insurance coverage. 75% effort and above is considered full-time employment for benefit purposes at Texas A&M. Employees working full-time moving to part-time may qualify to maintain full employer contribution for a limited period under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
