Microsoft 365

Overview

Texas A&M provides Microsoft 365 to students, faculty, and staff of the university belonging to system parts 02,09,10,23, and 28 for no additional cost. Applications available in Microsoft 365 are Outlook, Calendar, Bookings, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint, Teams, Class Notebook, Sway, and Microsoft Planner. Information

Accessing Microsoft 365

To access your Microsoft 365 account:

  1. Go to https://microsoft365.tamu.edu. You will be redirected to a Microsoft Login screen with the Texas A&M logo at the top. 
  2. Enter your NetID@tamu.edu email address and click next.
  3. Enter your NetID password.
  4. Complete the login by selecting the DUO 2-factor Authentication method of your choice.
  5. You will then be taken to the Microsoft 365 home page. From this page, you will be able to access Microsoft software.
  6. Additionally, you may choose to install Microsoft 365 by clicking on the Install Office option in the top right hand corner of the window.

Bookings

Bookings is an appointment scheduling tool that integrates with Microsoft Calendar and Microsoft Teams. Bookings will be available later this fall.

Calendar

Calendar is a part of Microsoft Outlook. it can be used to create appointments and events, organize meetings, and view group schedules. Calendar allows you to view multiple calendars side-by-side or in an overlay view. Calendar also lets you subscribe to internet calendars as well as calendars on SharePoint sites. Class Notebook

Class Notebook is used by teachers to set up OneNote for their class with student notebooks for private communication between a teacher and individual students, a content library to share course materials with students, and a collaboration space for all students and their teachers. Excel

Excel is Microsoft's spreadsheet software. With Microsoft 365, you can save your workbooks directly to your OneDrive for access from multiple devices and locations. Additional information can be found on the Microsoft support site for Excel.

Microsoft Planner

Microsoft Planner is a collaboration application that you can use to create plans for projects, assign tasks to individuals, and track their progress on those tasks. Additional information can be found on the Microsoft Planner support site.

OneDrive

Microsoft OneDrive is an online cloud storage service that allows you to store your documents online and access them from any device or location. OneDrive is integrated into Microsoft 365 to make saving and accessing your files simple. Additional information can be found on the Microsoft OneDrive support site.

OneNote

OneNote is a note-taking application that can be used on nearly any computer, phone, or mobile device. Notes are stored online and can be shared with others for collaboration. Additional information can be found on the Microsoft OneNote support site.

Outlook

Outlook is Microsoft 365's email application. Not only can it connect to Microsoft Exchange accounts, but it can be configured to check other email accounts such as Gmail as well. The Outlook application is available for computers and mobile devices. Outlook provides easy access to your email, calendar, contacts, and tasks as well. PowerPoint

PowerPoint is Microsoft 365's presentation software and is available for computers and mobile devices. Additional information can be found at Microsoft's PowerPoint support site.

SharePoint

SharePoint is used to create and serve websites to an organization, group, or team. It can be used to store documents for online access, edit documents using online versions of Office software, share documents with others, and more. Sway

Sway is used to create reports, presentations, newsletters, photo albums and more. Sway is intended to make creation of content intuitive, simple, and unique. Additional information can be found on Microsoft's Sway support site.

Teams

Microsoft Teams is a collaboration application that let's you create groups, or teams, in order to have discussions, hold meetings, or share files. With Teams, you can also make calls to other Teams users within the application. Additional information can be found on Microsoft's Teams support site.

Word

Microsoft Word is a word processing software that is available on PC, Mac, and mobile devices. It is integrated with OneDrive to easily save your documents. Additional information can be found on Microsoft's Word support site.
