Teams - Clearing Teams Cache

Overview

In some instances, you will need to clear your local device cache in order to correct an issue with Microsoft Teams.

Windows

  1. Right-click the Teams icon in the taskbar, and then select Quit.


     
  2. Delete the settings.json file via command line.
    1. Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows logo key +R. A Run window will appear.
    2. Type in cmd and select OK. A command prompt box will open up.
    3. Enter the following command and press Enter.
      del %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams\settings.json
    4. Restart Teams.
  3. Delete the settings.json file via File Explorer.
    1. Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows logo key +R. A Run window will appear.


       
    2. copy and paste  %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams in the Run dialog box, and then select OK.


       
    3. Delete the file settings.json in the %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams directory.


       
    4. Restart Teams.

macOS

  1. Right-click the Teams icon in the dock, and then select Quit, or press Command (⌘)-Q.


     
  2. In Finder, select Go from the menu bar, then select Utilities.


     
  3. Double-click on Terminal in the Utilities folder.

  4. Enter the following command, and then press Return:

    rm -r ~/Library/Application\ Support/Microsoft/Teams/settings.json


     
  5. Restart Teams.
