Visiting Scholars and Professors - Onboarding and Access Rights

Visiting Scholar and Professor Onboarding

To onboard a visiting scholar or professor, campus members must work with the appropriate office for their unit.

For most Texas A&M University campus members, this requires completion of a Visiting Scholar Request Form.

Other System members:

Access to Gmail

By default, visiting scholars and professors do not get access to TAMU Gmail. Visiting scholars will need to contact their supervisor or sponsor in their department about requesting the appropriate entitlements for an TAMU Gmail account. The supervisor/sponsor should email identity@tamu.edu to request Google access.

Access to Libraries

Once a visiting scholar or professor's NetID has been created, they can request access to Library resources. Information on the required forms for this access can be found at https://askus.library.tamu.edu/askus-staff/faq/54452.

Access to Howdy

In order to gain access to Howdy, a visiting scholar or professor must be an associate or instructor within Compass. The visiting scholar's Primary Authorizing Agent should be able to assist with the process of making the visiting professor an Associate in Compass.
