Windows SAS 9.4 License Renewal Instructions

Overview

The university is using the latest version of the SAS software (9.4). If you are using an older license, it may be a good idea to update.

Instructions

  1. Purchase a copy of the SAS license file by going to the following web address:

  2. You will be prompted for a  Username  and  Password  to login. If you do not know what they are, please fill out the appropriate SAS Order Form at:

    http://sell.tamu.edu/Codes_Installation/Request_for_Passwords_Form.php

    You will then receive the  Username  and  Password  either on a handout or in an email, depending on how you submit the order form.
          
  3. Enter the Username and Password then click Submit    
       
  4. Select the appropriate link for SAS 9.4 for Windows and that will bring up the contents of the SAS 9.4 license file.   
       
  5. Copy/paste the contents of the license file to Notepad and save it as SAS Installation Data and it will be saved with the .txt filename extension which is correct.
      
  6. To renew the license, click on:   
        
         Start --> All Programs --> SAS --> Utilities      
          
  7. Right-click  Renew SAS Software                    (for the 32-bit SAS)
              (or)  Renew SAS Software (64-bit)        (for the 64-bit SAS)     
       
  8. Select  Run as Administrator
        
  9. If the  User Account Control  dialog box is displayed, select Yes.   
        
  10. If prompted for a userid and password, please enter the administrator's login information.    
        
  11. You will be asked to select the SAS Installation Data File. Using the Browse button, go to the directory where this file was saved, select it and then select Open and click on Next.   
         
  12. Verify the licensed software that is listed and click on OK
         
  13. Verify/supply the Folder where SAS was installed and the Folder for SAS config file and then click on Renew
          
  14. It will then print a message stating that the setinit was successfully applied after which you click on  OK.  This means that the SAS license has been renewed.
