Introduction
When creating your people.tamu.edu website, you will need to access your Unix Drive (commonly referred to as the U: Drive). This drive will contain your public_html folder, which has the index.html file you will use for your website and classes. You can only access this drive through the Open Access Labs or Virtual Open Access Labs computers. Your U: Drive will not exist until you have enabled your People Web Space.
Below are instructions to enable your Web Page and manually map your home drive for your personal devices while on the TAMU network (TAMU_WiFi or TAMU VPN).
Enable Your Web Page
- Go to https://oalinfo.tamu.edu/
- Click on Account Services
- Log in with your NetID and Password (DUO enabled)
- The Account Services page should be open

- If your People Web Space is enabled, there will be a date and time of when it was enabled, a status message, and a People Web Path. You can continue to map your U: drive

- If your People Web Space is not enabled, you will have a message saying "Disabled." Continue the next step to enable your People Web Space

- Click Set up my web page from the left menu

- Click Enable. You should see a message stating "Enable Web Success at" followed by the date and time you clicked Enable

- If you are logged into an Open Access Labs (OAL) computer or a Virtual Open Access Labs (VOAL), you will need to log off and log back in. When you log back in, your U: drive should be mapped under File Explorer >> This PC automatically. In some cases, it may take up to 24 hours before the U: drive automatically maps. If you need immediate access to your U: drive, follow the instructions to manually map your U: drive

Manually Map Your U: Drive

- Copy the full file path listed next to People Web Path. The path to mapping your U: Drive is \\storage.it.tamu.edu\oal\web\~[NetID]

Your U: Drive will contain a folder as your NetID. It will contain a default index.html file that you will likely want to replace. Any files you want to be part of your web page will need to be placed in this folder.
