Overview
After enabling your personal web space on http://people.tamu.edu/, you may encounter the internet error "403: Forbidden."
Cause and Resolution
The most common cause for this error is incorrect capitalization of the index.html file. The default file for your https://people.tamu.edu webpage must be named "index.html" in all lowercase letters. Some programs used to create and/or edit your index.html file may save the file with a capital I. Changing this to a lowercase I before uploading it to http://people.tamu.edu/ will prevent this issue.
When an improperly capitalized index.html file is used, the default behavior of most web browsers is to attempt to browse the web server file structure to allow you to choose the webpage you want to view. Browsing the directory structure of the http://people.tamu.edu web server is forbidden, which is why you will receive the 403: Forbidden error.
