Overview

This article provides instructions on the purchasing and installation process of LabVIEW for Windows devices.

Purchasing LabVIEW System Design

If you have already purchased LabVIEW previously or are unable to purchase LabVIEW through software.tamu.edu, please contact Help Desk Central: https://it.tamu.edu/help/

  1. Go to software.tamu.edu and click on the logo of your institution to log in.
  2. Log in with the respective credentials you would use for your institution's Login. 
    1. If you are using the TAMU NetID login, log in with your NetID and NetID password
  3. Authenticate with your preferred authenticate method.
    1. If you cannot authenticate, you will need to contact Help Desk Central for bypass codes. Please call (979) 845-8300 or visit the Computing Services Complex (CSC), room CS00
    2. If neither of the above options work for you, you can start a chat at help.tamu.edu or email helpdesk@tamu.edu and request a Zoom meeting. Bypass codes cannot be given out over email or chat.
  4. Scroll down to LabVIEW System Design and click Details.
  5. Select the LabVIEW version that you wish to install for your device's OS.
  6. Click on the Cart Icon in the top-right-hand corner of the page.
  7. Click Check Out >>
  8. Enter your phone number and email address.
  9. Click Next >>
  10. Your order for LabVIEW has been submitted and may take up to an hour to be sent to your inbox.

 

Installing LabVIEW and Multisim

Before downloading any National Instruments products, they must first be registered on National Instrument's website, ni.com. The following instructions will illustrate the process for registering Academic Licenses for National Instruments (NI) products, including LabVIEW and Multisim.

  1. Go to ni.com and click on the account icon in the top-right corner of the page. Then select Log in.
    1. If you do not already have an NI account, you can create one using your NetID@tamu.edu email under the Create Account option.
  2. After logging in, click on the account icon once again and select My Products.
  3. Under Register a Product, type in the serial number of the product that you wish to register and click Register.
    1. The serial number should begin with "M" and is included in the purchase order that you received from the Software Center. 
  4. A Student Install Option should now appear as a registered product. From here click on the Select Action drop-down menu and select Download Software.
  5. Select either LabVIEW or Multisim for the Software Environment download option, then select Try for free.
  6. Open the installer for the downloaded package.
  7. Follow the prompts. Most classes will only require you to install the default products and settings selected.
  8. Click Install.
  9. After installation has concluded, a pop window will appear for you to activate your software. Click on Log in to Activate and log in with your NI credentials.
  10. When prompted to activate your license, click on the drop-down menu and select Enter a serial number.
  11. Type in the serial number as done previously into one of the open fields and select Activate.
  12. Confirm the selected products to be activated. You will then be asked to restart your device. After a successful reboot, the software will now be accessible on your device.
