ORCA - How to add a TA, TA Lead, Course Designer, or Grader to Canvas course(s) – Instructor

Overview

Course Associate Roles that an individual may have and may be added to your Canvas course using the Online Request Course Administration (ORCA) website tool includes the following:
●    Course Designer 
●    Grader 
●    Grade Submitter 
●    Teaching Assistant 
●    Learning Assistant
●    Lead Teaching Assistant 

Considerations:
●    If you are not sure which role is appropriate to use, please reference their Definitions.
●    All individuals assigned a Course Associate in Canvas are required to have completed FERPA and Information Security Awareness training in TrainTraq. 

Instructions

  1. Go to https://orca.tamu.edu/ and click on Log In in the upper right corner.
  2. Enter your credentials on the Log in page and click on Continue. 
  3. Click on Enrollments. A list of additional members already added to your sections will appear on the Enrollments page. Click the upside-down triangle on the UIN column or use the scroll bar to search for an individual. (Skip to step 4 if the individual does not appear on the list)

  4.  If the individual you are searching for does not appear in the list, Click on Add Enrollments.

  5.  Fill in the individual UIN in the UIN field. Click on the Tab key to move to the next box, the individual's information should be automatically filled in.

  6.  In the Role column, click on the dropdown menu and select the desired role for the individual.

  7.  Click on Search Sections to display courses available.

  8. Select the box to the left of the course the individual needs to be enrolled into, then click on Select located in the bottom right.

  9.  Click Add to submit.

  10.  The individual's status will appear on the Enrollments list page.

    If after 24 hours, the individual's status is shown as Ready and they do not appear in your People list in Canvas, please email support@instructure.com to initiate a request. Please include the CRN, user's UIN, and the date/time you added them through ORCA.
