Computing resources for TAMUQ users

User must activate their TAMUQ accounts before getting access to resources online. See instructions here:  Account Activation User Guide

Activating your accounts will grant you access to the following resources:

• Software applications 
• Outlook 365
• On-campus computing resources
• Microsoft 365 Software
• Printing access

A Texas A&M NetID is an account used for logging in and accessing Texas A&M University at College Station resources, such as Texas A&M Gmail, TAMU Library, Howdy, Canvas, and other main campus sites. Texas A&M University conducts the management of this account at College Station.  Technology Services offers basic troubleshooting and can assist password reset.

To claim your Google Apps account, go to Claim TAMU Gmail.

After you have enabled your NetID, you have the option to forward TAMU Email to TAMUQ email using the instructions below:

As part of TAMUQ's Microsoft 365 subscription, you can save your files in OneDrive and then work with them from almost any device. To get started, log in to your Microsoft Office365 account and access your One Drive app online or install it on your device. See instructions here: Getting Started with TAMUQ Microsoft OneDrive.

• Self-Service Portal- The Technology Services - Qatar website allows you to get help, request services, and access knowledge articles.

TAMUQ offers eligible students and staff access to Microsoft Office365 with a local installation of up to 5 copies on personal devices.

Microsoft 365 provides access to a suite of applications for collaboration and communications, such as Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, and others.

Computer labs

Technology Services maintains computer labs in the Engineering building spaces, sometimes called Open Access Labs (OALs). There is one general use labs in the building 241G. Students can also access specialized computer labs in the Engineering Building dedicated to certain areas of study and specific coursework.

Technology Services provides and supports secure wireless network access throughout the building over the “Staff” and “Student” wireless channels. TAMUQ account holders on-premise can access their respective wireless networks using their TAMUQ account credentials. For guests, Technology Services provides Eduroam access, a secure, worldwide wireless access service for the international research and educational community. 

FollowMe-Student Printing

Students can print from their computers and send a print job through FollowMe Printing. Print jobs are collected at any network printer around the campus by simply swiping your ID Card on the blue box of the printer.

Several software titles are available for installation on BYOD devices at TAMUQ through https://software.tamu.edu/ using TAMU NetID for login.  The current list of free software available to students includes:

• Matlab 2025
• Solidworks Premium
• Canvas 
• Read&Write for Macintosh
• Read&Write for Windows

Course-specific software available in TAMU computer labs can be accessed virtually through TAMU VOAL for those unable to attend in person.

TAMU VPN

• Cisco AnyConnect VPN - Accessing TAMU managed sites and Virtual Machines will require VPN. Virtual Private Network (VPN) service offers  TAMU & TAMUQ employees, students, and eligible affiliates access to the university's network when working off-campus. VPN provides increased security and the same level of access as a direct local connection to the campus network. Instructions on getting started
