Password Flush

Overview

Occasionally you will be able to access certain TAMU websites and resources using your NetID/NetID password, but will be unable to access certain other resources. You may get a message saying: "The credentials you have provided cannot be determined to be authentic."

When this happens, you will have to perform what is called a password flush. This will re-propagate your password across the servers.

Steps for Performing a Password Flush:

Option One:

  1. Go to gateway.tamu.edu and login using your NetID and NetID password
  2. Navigate to "Password Settings" on the left-hand center of the screen
  3. You will be prompted to log in again as an extra security measure, once through, select "Change Password"
  4. Change your password to your current password. That is, input the password you are already using

NOTE: If your password is close to expiring, it will not let you use the same password. Instead, you will have to create a new password.

Option Two:

  1. Go to password.tamu.edu and login using your UIN and date of birth.
  2. If you are enrolled in Self Service Password Reset, you may use that contact for an access code
    1. Otherwise, call Help Desk Central for an access code
  3. Change your password to your current password. That is, input the password you are already using

NOTE: If your password is close to expiring, it will not let you use the same password. Instead, you will have to create a new password.

Once you have done this, attempt to login to the website/system you were previously unable to access
