Overview
Texas A&M University provides bulkmail, a mass email service, to students, faculty and staff, for a variety of informational and promotional communications that meet certain criteria. The intended audience and the nature of the message being delivered will determine the bulkmail list(s)used. Details can be found in our Bulk Email Requirements.
The campus general interest email opt-lists are used to disseminate messages that are deemed to be of interest to campus community at-large (all employees, all students or everyone) and are not necessarily official university business. To send messages to the opt-lists, please complete the bulk email request form at http://bulkmail.tamu.edu/.
Frequently asked questions
How frequently will I receive messages from the general interest opt lists?
At most, you will receive two digest emails: one for the employee interests list and one for the student interests list. The once daily digest email includes the date, subject and sender for each bulkmail message approved for distribution to the lists you opted into via the Texas A&M Aggie Gateway email subscriptions portal.
How did I get put on these lists?
If you were opted-in prior to February 27, 2023, you were automatically re-enrolled and will receive a once daily digest. If you were not opted-in prior to that date, you will not receive the once daily digest. At any time you may update your preferences via the Texas A&M Aggie Gateway email subscriptions portal.
Will I be able to reply to messages from these lists?
No. These lists are announcement lists only. Typically, contact information is included with each message where more information can be found.
How can I remove myself from these list?
You may opt-out from these lists via the Texas A&M Aggie Gateway email subscriptions portal.
I removed myself from these lists, but want to be included again. How can I rejoin these lists?
Yes. You may opt-in to receive once daily digests via the Texas A&M Aggie Gateway email subscriptions portal.
If I opt out, will I still receive important, official University email? (i.e. benefits open enrollment, parking renewal, etc.?)
Yes. You will continue to receive official email correspondence from Texas A&M University including but not limited to Code Maroon messages, email from professors, the Office of the President, etc.
I removed myself from these lists. Why am I still getting unsolicited email from the University?
The campus general interest email lists for students and employees are maintained in partnership between Technology Services and Marketing & Communications. You may be subscribed to other email lists maintained independently by organizations and departments with which you are or were affiliated. If you continue to receive unwanted email after removing yourself from these lists, check those messages for unsubscribe links or contact information.
What email address will these messages come from, and how can I filter them?
There are two lists, one for student interests and one for employee interests. You will receive a once daily digest email for all lists you opt into:
- TAMU-OPT-EMPLOYEES@LISTSERV.TAMU.EDU
- TAMU-OPT-STUDENTS@LISTSERV.TAMU.EDU
You can use these addresses to filter the once daily digest emails so that they go into a specific folder in your mail client. The steps to create an email filter are different for each email client. Instructions are provided for both Gmail and for Exchange (Outlook).
