Overview
Keeping your version of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) up to date can help prevent or solve a variety of issues. Additionally, using the most up to date versions of these applications will give you access to their most recent features. Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. are available for use online.
They are also available as offline desktop versions. The desktop versions of the Microsoft Office applications have more features and capabilities than the web versions of the software. In order to have the full functionality of the Office applications, you are encouraged to download the desktop versions.
Instructions
To install the desktop application version Office or update to the latest version of office:
- Go to https://office.com.
- Click Sign In.
- Enter your NetID@tamu.edu email address.
- Click Next.
- Click on Work or school account.
- Enter your NetID password.
- Click Sign In.
- Authenticate using Duo.
- You can choose to stay signed in by clicking either No or Yes.
- Click Install Office in the upper right corner of the screen.

- Select Office 365 apps.
- Save the installation file to your computer.
- Open the installation file and follow the instructions.
Once you have followed the installation instructions, you will be able to use the full-featured versions of Microsoft Office applications offline on your desktop or laptop computer.
