TAMU-OAL-Using the Print Kiosks to Release Print Jobs in the Open Access Labs (OAL)

Overview

Releasing your print job is as simple as "Swipe, Select, Print!".  Print Kiosks maintained by the Open Access Labs (OAL) allow students, faculty, staff and some visitors (anyone with a NetID) to print in the libraries and various buildings across campus as well as all of the OAL computer labs.

This document provides step-by-step instructions for using each of the Print Kiosks at OAL printers. Once a print job is sent from any OAL computer or device using AggiePrint, you can visit any of the OAL print kiosks to release your printouts within a two (2) hour window. Below you will find specific step-by-step instructions for using each print kiosk to retrieve your printouts.

Color Printing on a Multi-Function Printer (MFP) Kiosk

One of the printers offered by OAL is called the Multi Function Printer (MFP). This printer can Copy, print, scan, fax, and email in color or black and white with a variety of paper sizes available.

When ready to release a submitted print job to the Xerox MFP printer:

If you want one print job, select the job you want to print and press Print.

You will see an informational screen regarding your print allocation funds. Should you need to add funds to your account, visit https://print.tamu.edu.

When you are finished printing, select Exit.

Your printout(s) will be sent to the printer.

Xerox B610 Printers (and Xerox 5550)

OAL offers two black and white printer models called the Xerox B610s and 5550s. The only difference between the two is the location of the touch screen. These printers print in black and white on both Letter (8.5"x11') and Legal (8.5'x14") and on both front side only and duplex printing.

FAQ

I tried to print one of my jobs, but an error came up and the job disappeared.  What happened?

over 100

Print jobs must be less than 100 pages or 100 megabytes or else they will be deleted when you attempt to print them.  High-capacity printers in Blocker, West Campus Library and the Student Computing Center are better suited for large print jobs.

How long do my print jobs stay in the queue?

Once you print to a Print Kiosk, you have two hours to release the printout. After that, the print job will be deleted.

If my print job is deleted before it is released at the kiosk, am I charged for it?

No.  You are not charged until the job is sent to the printer.
