Lab Reservation
There are seven Open Access Labs (OAL) classrooms located across campus. Each classroom is equipped with computers, a video projector, a video & document cameras and an instructor's terminal. The OAL classrooms' primary purpose is to provide support for student computing instruction. Reservation requests for other university uses will be granted on a case-by-case basis.
Who can use an OAL classroom?
Students, faculty and staff can all use the OAL classrooms. However, academic classes and other faculty needs take priority.
- Faculty teaching academic classes listed by the Registrar have priority in the classrooms. If you would like to teach in an OAL Teaching Lab, please ask your department's Scheduling Officer to reserve the room through the Registrar's scheduling system.
- Faculty needing the classroom for events such as testing or supplemental instruction have the next priority. The Registrar can override these reservations.
- Staff may reserve the classrooms for departmental or organizational use and take priority over student use.
- Student organizations may reserve the classrooms for functions and meeting space when submitted by the organization's advisor.
- Students may use the classrooms for quiet study space when not in use for the reasons above.
Reserving an OAL Classroom:
Recognized student organizations, authorized staff and all faculty can reserve an OAL classroom, though faculty and staff have priority over organizations. To reserve an OAL classroom, submit the OAL Classroom Request Form.
Official academic course reservations should be made through your department's Scheduling Officer like any other classroom. To reserve a classroom during finals, a separate request must be submitted that specifies the date and time of the request (priority is given to the class filling the time according to the Finals Schedule).
Single use reservations will be added to the calendar after the Registrar sets the semester's schedule. Reservations are granted on a first request basis.
