Overview
Texas A&M has a subscription to Globus that university members can join. Joining the TAMU Globus subscription provides many benefits that are not available to free Globus subscriptions.
Access to the Texas A&M Globus subscription is available to members of Texas A&M University (system member 02) and Texas A&M Health (system member 23).
Benefits
Ability to share data/folders to non-TAMU Globus users
Users can share data from a managed endpoint by creating shared endpoints.
Create a share
Globus Plus users can create shared endpoints on their personal computers (using Globus Connect Personal) and transfer files between Globus Connect Personal endpoints.
Create and share collections
Endpoints use Globus Connect Server to connect a file system to Globus. A managed endpoint is an endpoint with full administrative capabilities enabled (management console, usage reports), capable of hosting shared endpoints.
End-to-end encryption during data transfers
Enables browsing, preview, and downloading of files on Globus endpoints directly within a web browser (without requiring Globus Connect Personal). Files may also be accessed by other applications that support HTTPS data access, all with full enforcement of user-specified access control.
Ability to schedule automatic/recurring data transfers
The Globus Flows service makes it possible to automate data management pipelines that include unattended file transfer and sharing, data description and indexing, and computation—with human-in-the-loop interaction as needed.
Audit logging
he Globus Connect software generates a detailed audit trail on your local storage, allowing you to reconstruct data access and user activities. Audit logs record details of all data access events as well as activities such as login and resource management.
Access to the Globus API for portal and automation
Integrate Globus data management functionality into your own applications, such as data portals or science gateways, that use Globus file transfer and sharing services via Globus' REST API or the Globus user-interface widgets.
Session/Device Isolation
When accessing protected data, Globus isolates individual application instances (web browser sessions) and devices to ensure that authorization and access via one does not flow to another. As an added assurance of identity, subscribers can configure session duration, requiring users to re-authenticate after a specified period.
