Overview
This article provides instructions on resolving the known issue where Windows 11 devices are unable to connect to WPA2 networks such as TAMU_WiFi and Eduroam despite using correct credentials to log in.
Cause
Windows 11 defaults to using the computer's device certificates and not the user's network certificates which is causing access to WPA2 networks to be denied.
Resolution
Method 1: Manual Configuration
- On the Windows desktop screen, type Settings into the search bar.
- Click on Network & Internet.
- Select Wi-Fi.

- Select Manage known networks.

- Forget the affected network by clicking on Forget.
- Select Add network.
- Manually configure the network using the following information below:
- Network name: TAMU_WiFi or eduroam.
- Security type: WPA2-Enterprise AES or WPA3-Enterprise AES.
- EAP method: Protected EAP (PEAP).
- Authentication method: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2).

Method 2: Change Certificate Configuration
- On the Windows desktop screen, type Settings into the search bar.
- Click on Network & Internet.
- Select Wi-Fi.

- Select TAMU_WiFi properties or eduroam properties.

- Select Edit from Advanced Wi-Fi network properties.

- Select Security.

- Select Settings next to Choose a network authentication method.

- Clear the checkbox Verify the server's identity by validating the certificate.

If this does not resolve the issue, continue with the following steps:
- Select Advanced settings.

- Ensure User authentication is selected.
