Create a Position

Overview

Creating a new position is the process by which a new PIN (position identification number) is generated. All budgeted staff and temporary/casual positions must be complete with a position description and established salary. New staff positions require the approval from the unit's Vice President / Dean or their approved delegate.

Use this service request to ask questions about:

  • Creating a New Faculty Position: Understanding the process, required documentation, and approval workflow for creating a new position.
  • Closing a Position: This action should be taken when a position will not be replaced in the future. It involves removing the position from the system to ensure it is no longer available for recruitment or assignment.

Eligibility

Staff, Faculty, and Graduate Assistant employees working 50% effort or more for 4.5 months or longer are eligible to participate in Texas A&M System sponsored benefits.
