ResNet is a system that is used to register your device to the Network and gain access to the Campus Internet through a wired connection.

Smart TV
Gaming Consoles
Devices such as Amazon Echos, Google Homes, Fire Sticks, Apple HomePods and other wireless devices that are unable to connect to the TAMU_WiFi network can use the TAMU_IoT network. You can have up to five(5) devices on the TAMU_IoT network at one time. For more information, see our instructions for adding devices to the TAMU_IoT nework.
ResNet FAQ
Gaming
- Strict NAT type - Video Game Consoles
- While connected to ResNet, Residents may notice a strict NAT type on their consoles. This is due to a configuration on our Campus Firewall. It is NOT possible to remove the strict NAT type on campus including dorms.

- Consoles - Can I register any console to use ResNet?
- Yes! You will need to register your consoles MAC Address before it can be used on ResNet.
- Wireless - Can I connect my consoles to the TAMU_Wifi?
- Online Gaming - Will I be able to play online?
- Yes! You can use online gaming services for consoles like Xbox Live or the PlayStation Network. However, some functions to host multiplayer games, may be limited.
Routers
- Router - Not connecting to ResNet
- When registering the MAC Address of a router you would need to register the LAN MAC address. This can be found when you log into your router to turn off the WiFi.
- Some routers will require you log in and attempt to setup WiFi before it lets you pass LAN traffic.
- Adapter - Not connecting to ResNet:
- If you have an Ethernet adapter on any device that you are using to connect to the network you need to register it's MAC address as well.
- You can find this on a Windows computer by opening the command prompt or a Mac's Terminal and typing
ipconfig/all
- Could not register - ResNet
- If ResNet fails to register a MAC addresses the first time, please refresh the page and try again it should be successful the second time.
