Overview
Your NetID is the username you need to access many university resources such as Texas A&M Gmail, the Howdy Portal, and Open Access Lab computers. Your NetID will also be part of your Texas A&M email address.
What is a NetID?
Your NetID is a username Texas A&M campus members use to log in to various systems and services, including the Applicant Information System (AIS), the Central Authentication Service (CAS), Howdy, and your Texas A&M Gmail. Learn more here: What is a NetID?
Activating/Creating a NetID
Activating your NetID is the same as creating your NetID. This means that before activating your NetID, you do not have a NetID. Learn more here: Gateway - Activating your NetID Account
Changing Your NetID Information
You are not assigned a NetID in the same way you are assigned a UIN. Before you can access TAMU systems, including email, you must first activate your NetID by claiming it. Learn more here: How to change your NetID or email address
NetID Password Reset
If you are ever locked out of your account, you may request a password reset. Learn more here: NetID - Password Reset
Secondary NetID
The Secondary NetID Request Service Offering allows requests for a secondary NetID account to be created. Secondary NetIDs are individual accounts used for elevated administrative privileges, linked to your primary NetID for enhanced security and separation of duties.
Shared NetID
The Shared NetID Request Service Offering allows requests for a new Shared NetID to be created or modified. Shared NetIDs are accounts designed for systems, devices, or services that need network authentication and can be used by multiple users.
Please be advised: Shared NetIDs do not have the same privileges as personal accounts. By default, Shared NetIDs cannot be provisioned with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 without a valid business justification.
Sponsored NetID
The Sponsored NetID Request Service Offering allows a Sponsored NetID account to be requested for non-TAMU employees and guests supporting official university business, These accounts require an active faculty or staff sponsor and must be renewed annually.
NetID Extension
Eligibility: This extension request is only for previously submitted Sponsored NetID accounts and is not available for graduating students, terminated employees, or visiting scholars/remote collaborators.
Note: According to current policy, any Sponsored NetID accounts that have already been extended four (4) or more times will require renewal through the submission of a new Sponsored NetID Request form instead of an extension request.
