Gateway

Overview

This article provides a summary of each of the facilities available through the Texas A&M Aggie Account Gateway, as well as where to find them.

Home Page

The Gateway home page provides links to log in through CAS, reset your password, and claim your NetID. Current students, employees, parents, and other affiliates with active TAMU NetID accounts can log in to Gateway by selecting "Log In."

If you do not have a NetID account, you will need to select "Claim Your NetID" to set up an account. After doing so, you will be able to log in to any TAMU website that uses CAS login. This article provides instructions on how to activate your NetID account: https://servicenow.tamu.edu/tamucs?id=tamucs_kb_article&sysparm_article=KB0010423

Gateway Services

Upon logging in to Gateway, you will be presented with three options: Password Settings, Email Settings, and Directory Info.

Password Settings

The Password Settings tab contains details on your NetID account's password, including expiration date, Password Recovery information, and whether you have disabled call-in password resets.

Password Recovery

Password Recovery is a service that, if enabled, allows you to recover your password without needing to call the Help Desk for an access code. You can add a recovery email and mobile phone number, which will need to be verified before setup is complete. After verification, you can send an access code to either of these recovery addresses to reset your password.

Call-In Password Reset

In the Call-In Password Reset tab, you can disable the option to call in to the Help Desk to reset your password. If this option is disabled, any time you call in to reset your password, you will be required to visually verify your identity via Zoom before the Help Desk can provide an access code. It is typically advised to enable SSPR first, then disable call-in password resets for maximum account security.

Email Settings

The Email Settings tab contains details on your Texas A&M email, including the published address and all associated aliases, how mail is delivered and stored in your inbox, and whether your Google Apps account is enabled.

Published Email Address

In the Published Email Address tab, your main TAMU address will be displayed here, along with any aliases you have created. Any alias addresses you create will direct back to your main mailbox. If you would like to change your published email address (which draws from your NetID), you can do so through the steps in this article: https://servicenow.tamu.edu/tamucs?id=tamucs_kb_article&sysparm_article=KB0014767

If you want to create an email alias, you will need to follow certain specifications. They will need to:

  • Be at least three (3) and at most sixty-four (64) characters long
  • Begin with a letter
  • Contain only the following characters: a-z, 0-9, dot (.), dash (-), and underscore (_)

Forwarding Settings

In the Forwarding Settings tab, you can designate where mail sent to your TAMU email address will be delivered and stored. The options available to you vary based on your affiliation with the university. Some examples are:

  • Sent to and stored in my Texas A&M Exchange mailbox
  • Sent to and stored in my Texas A&M Gmail mailbox
  • Delivered to __
  • Returned to Sender

Google Apps Account

The Google Apps Account tab allows you to claim a TAMU Google Apps account, including a Gmail inbox. Students have this option enabled by default, but other affiliates have the option of enabling or disabling the account. NOTE: Disabling your TAMU Google Apps account through Gateway will delete both the account and any data associated with the account. This includes photos, Google Drive files, and emails.

Email Subscriptions

The Email Subscriptions tab allows you to see and manage mailing lists that you are subscribed to.

Directory Info

The Directory Info tab allows you to update additional directory search terms, your published email address, and your personal web page. However, you cannot edit your directory information here; students can change their information through Howdy, while faculty and staff need to edit directory information through Workday. This article provides more information on editing and withholding your directory information: https://servicenow.tamu.edu/tamucs?id=tamucs_kb_article&sysparm_article=KB0013763

Help

The Help tab is located in the top right corner of the Gateway page, next to "Login" if you have not logged in or your NetID if you have logged in. This tab provides a list of frequently asked questions regarding NetID accounts, TAMU email accounts, and directory information.
