Outlook Constant Password Prompt

Overview

On occasion, Microsoft Outlook will enter a state where it pompts for authentication credentials frequently or constantly. This is often related to stale credentials being stored in Microsoft's Credential Manager. Removing the stale credentials from Credential Manager typically fixes this. If you are using Outlook 2016 or earlier and the following instructions do not resolve your issue, we recommend that you upgrade your version of Outlook.

Instructions

  1. Close all Outlook windows.
  2. Press the Start button and search for Control Panel
  3. Open Control Panel. On the top-right-hand search bar, enter mail, and select Mail from the search results.
