Leaving a Listserv

Overview

In order to leave a listserv list at Texas A&M University, you must issue a command to the Listserv server. Here’s how:

  1. Send an email to the Listserv server from the address at which you are subscribed* by emailing listserv@listserv.tamu.edu.

    * The Listserv server recognizes you solely by your subscribed email address. If you are subscribed to a listserv list by an alias, like NetID@tamu.edu, but forward your email to another email service provider, you might have trouble. You must configure your email client to send messages using your subscribed email address (in this case, NetID@tamu.edu) before the Listserv server will recognize you.
        
  2. In the body of the email message, include the following line:

    SIGNOFF listname
    * Replace “listname” with the exact name of the Listserv list you’re leaving. If the address of your list is some_list@listserv.tamu.edu, then you would use some_list
       
  3. You should receive a confirmation from the Listserv server that you have been removed from the Listserv list.
