Gmail - Forwarding as an Attachment

Overview

When reporting phishing attempts and other malware, you may be asked to forward the suspicious message as an attachment. In Gmail, this requires initially opening the message, downloading it, and then composing a new message to helpdesk@tamu.edu.

Instructions

  1. Open the suspicious message.
  2. Click the three dots in the upper right of the message.
  3. Select Download Message.
  4. Save the file where you can easily find it, such as your desktop.
  5. Compose a new message.
  6. Address the message to helpdesk@tamu.edu.
  7. Indicate that you are sending us a possibly suspicious email.
  8. Attach the file you  saved previously.
  9. Send us the attachment.
