Microsoft 365 Outlook - Frequently Asked Questions

What applications are available to me?

Clicking on the App Launcher in the top left corner and then clicking on All Apps will display all applications which are available in your Microsoft 365 license.

Do I have to have Outlook installed on a computer in order to use outlook.office.com, or can I just use the web app?

You do not need to have Outlook installed locally in order to use the web app at https://outlook.office.com. You can compare features of Outlook for PC, Web, Android, and IOS at Microsoft's support site.

Can the calendar report on how much time has been spent on each calendar category?

No. While there is a duration field, Outlook cannot directly make calculations with it.

Can we use Add-ins with Microsoft 365 Outlook?

Yes. Add-ins can be added via the Add-ins button in Outlook. While no Add-ins are inherently blocked, some Add-ins may request access to certain data that requires approval from Technology Services Risk Management team. If an Add-in requires this approval, you will be prompted for a justification.

Do inbox rules work in the web application?

Yes, inbox rules do work on the Exchange web application. For additional information on using inbox rules on the Outlook web application, please visit Microsoft's support site.

Will the Outlook mobile application for Android and iOS with with Microsoft 365?

Yes. The Outlook mobile application for both platforms works with Microsoft 365 Outlook. 

How can I insure that subfolders I create are in the correct place?

If you create a sub folder in the wrong location, you can click and drag the folder to the correct location.

Is the login to Outlook 365 on the Howdy portal?

Yes. The Exchange button on the Howdy portal will take you to  exchange.tamu.edu. If your account has been migrated to the cloud, you will instead be shown a link to click on to go to outlook.office.com.

Can Outlook calendar invites be imported to a Google calendar?

Can I add a Google calendar?

Instructions on syncing with a Google calendar can be found on Microsoft's support website.

Can I draft an outgoing email and schedule it to be sent at a later time?

Yes. The Delay Send feature is accessed by clicking the down arrow next to the Send button. You can specify a date and time for the message to be sent.
