Gateway - Changing a Current NetID Password

Overview

Texas A&M users are required to update their NetID passwords periodically. If a password is less than 16 characters in length, it will expire after a calendar year. Passwords with 16 characters or more will never expire.

After submitting your new password, it will take approximately seven minutes for it to fully upload to A&M’s server. This means that you may experience some log in trouble during that seven minutes. However, if the log in trouble does not resolve itself, contact Help Desk Central at (979) 845-8300 for assistance.

This document provides instructions on how to change an unexpired NetID password that you know.

Instructions

  • Go to http://gateway.tamu.edu and click Log in.
  • Log in with your NetID and your NetID password [fig. 02].   
  • On the right-hand side of the page, under "I want to...", click on change my password
  • Create a password that follows the rules you are presented with. Input your password twice and click Save at the bottom of the page.
