TAMU-OAL - AggiePrint Common Problems

AggiePrint Common Problems

There are many problems associated with AggiePrint that students, faculty, and staff encounter when printing. This document highlights the common issues users face with print jobs and suggests methods for how to resolve and/or prevent them.

Failed Print Jobs

  • When printing from the AggiePrint webpage, please ensure to allow the entire document to completely upload before exiting the AggiePrint window.
    • Uploaded documents will remain in the online portal for two hours before they are deleted. If this occurs, you must reupload the document.
  • When releasing printouts from print kiosks, error messages may occasionally come up and cause the job to disappear.
    • Print jobs must be less than 100 pages or 100 megabytes or else they will be deleted when you attempt to print them. High-capacity printers located in Blocker, West Campus Library (WCL), and the Student Computing Center (SCC) are better suited for large print jobs.
  • Corrupted print jobs are a result of printer malfunctions.
  • Certain files may have some type of copy protection/encryption on them (some professors apply this on their PDF files).
    • Please ensure that the file you wish to print does not have any protective restrictions on it prior to printing.
  • Large delays in printing may often result from backed up files due to printer malfunctions (low toner, paper jams, etc.).
    • To resolve this delay, print jobs in the queue must be cleared by student workers in the print room.

Missing Print Jobs

  • If you cannot locate your printout before the end of the day, please first consult an OAL student worker.
    • All black-and-white printouts not picked up immediately will be retained in special locations of the lab in which they were printed for three days. After three days, they will be recycled. Color printouts will be retained until the end of semester. You will be charged for released printouts whether you pick them up or not.

Page Size

  • Certain types of printers only print with set page sizes.
    • Please ensure to check the page size before printing (if a printer is not capable of printing a document that requires 11"x17" tabloid paper, a printer that only prints on 8.5"x11'' paper will not print the document).

Color Printing

  • To print in color, you must adjust your document print settings and/or print to a different printer type.
    • Within the document print settings, please make sure that the "Print grayscale (black-and-white)" box is unchecked. For color print jobs, please print to Color Printing - OAL Kiosk.

Duplex Printing

  • If you wish to print on both sides of a page, please ensure to select the 2-sided option located within the print window of the browser or application you are printing from. There are two options for printing double-sided: flipping on long edge and flipping on short edge.
    • Flipping on long edge will print pages so that they are flipped like a book (usually best for portrait orientation printouts).
    • Flip on short edge will print pages so that they are flipped like a calendar (both pages are printed in opposing directions).
